Can someone please explain to me just exactly how the atmosphere is going to change when we get to Falmer?

Unless we have a roof directly over the top of any "singing section" then the atmos wont be that much better that withdean.

For those of you who are old enough, remember the Kop in full voice, the Stretford End, The Clock End, The Shelf?....these have all gone and been replaced with seating areas filled with moaning feckers...."I have paid for a seat so I am going to sit"

You cant turn back the click but really we do need somewhere at Falmer to stand and sing ( although I recon I will be at least 50 before it comes off - 45 in a couple of weeks time)

I personally don't think it will, in my opinion the atmosphere even at the Goldstone was never of cauldron proprtions anyway, O.k i didn't start going there until 87 but a quick couple of minutes of we are Brighton or Sussex by the sea seemed about it. If you want atmosphere looks like we'll have stick to the away games for it.

What the fcuk is this singing section crap anyway what a stupid idea why can't everyone sing where ever they are.

I reckon there should be a test for those wanting to sit in the singing section based on the words to the songs so they can prove that they actually sing.

I think it will be marginally better. I'm in D block, and when j block sing I can just hear a faint muffle. But I have sat in the north stand and the singing has sounded better.

I still believe we could have safe standing areas (especially if they were all ticket areas)

It would be nice to think terracing will be allowed again one day.

It can't be worse than Withdean though. Surely?

Yes we need a cop end,but whatever it will certainly be better than the withdean.
Atmosphere has gone to pot everywhere since the all seater crap came in grrrrr.

It will be better, but as said, away games will always be where it's at. That's just the way it is - especially since terracing has gone.

The must be an end designated The North Stand, whether it is the North Stand or not, which is always pay-on-the-gate (apart from the huge games of course) and is the 'home' end.

The mere fact it's pay-on-the-gate and sit-where-you-like will immeasurably improve singing and the general atmosphere. The whole place will feel like an away ground for the first season anyway!

I think the club definately have to elect a stand for the more vocal rowdy fans, just so that like minded people know where to get their tickets for, preferably behind a goal Id say.

The atmosphere will piss all over Withdean, Pompey made loads of noise against us at home last season so it can be done.

I believe that the fact that Falmer will have a roof will make a big impact. Firstly the sound that is generated by those that do sing will be kept in the ground and everyone will be able to hear it. Secondly, there will be a psycological effect as everyone will remain warm and dry for every game, meaning that they'll be happier.

I for one can't wait!!!

Portsmouth is all seater and with 20,000 in there the atmos is fantastic. Withdean 7000. Falmer 22000 with roof and designed for maximum noise inside the ground. There should be Large singing sections behind each Goal. I think "singers" will find themselves congrigating behind the goals anyway.

The stadium is being designed to be an all-seater. But is there any reason at all why there shouldn't be a section of the stadium where tickets are sold on the basis that seats are not allocated to individuals? In other words, turn up and sit where you want to and with your mates.

We need to have "sit where you want" season tickets, restricted to a certain block obviously. We could have the NSC block in the North Stand. Plus Krispies. Would be loads of singing.

None at all - apart from the big games where they'll prolly have to be allocated properly, but for the average game there's no need and it would help so much.

To create an atmoshere you either need everyone who goes into the ground to shout/sing (eg Celtic) - not likely in our part of the world.

Or designate/create/maunufacture the scenario that created "the end" in the first place - and all the tribal fanaticism that goes with it. I doubt whether the open access arrangments of the 70s/80's will be an option for obvious reasons - there will need to be some control/management. But we could have part of the ground designed for those who are more vocal/enthusiastic. Imagine those that choose the current singing section (500+?) muliply by 10 for the rest of us who would like to join in (but also have reasonable view) and you have 5,000 vocal fans behind a goal. The same at the other end for the visitors and you will definitely have an atmosphere. Canb I book my seat now please?

Absolutely no reason why they can't do it for single games LB, even big ones. Went to Southampton v Liverpool season before last on a Wednesday night. It was a sell out, but we were in a "undesignated seating" block of about 500 seats or so. Season tickets like that would be perfect for a singing section.
