Will we know what the Inspector recommends to Prescott?

If so, when?

Isn't it Prescott's decision after Xmas? Surely he'll recieve the inspector's recommendation before that?

That is John Prescott's decision but the Inspector will make his recommendation to the Deputy.

That's what I meant.

Come on Berks we've got to hope or there isn't any point at all

It's fair to say that all Prescott will do is rubber stamp the inspectors recommendation. What is really important to us, in reality is probably worth no more than a swift once over by two jags. I doubt he'll have sleepless nights pondering his decision.

Does the Deputy PM follow a club? Is'nt football the working class game? We must have hope. We cannot stay at Withdean.....

His constituency is Hull where they have just got a brand new spanking stadium

I've just got back from the Final Session of the Public Inquiry at Hove Town Hall.

The closing announcement by the Inspector was that he expected to deliver his Report to the Planning Inspectorate during the week beginning 15 December. He said that the Planning Inspectorate normally take two weeks to prepare the necessary paperwork for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. However, because of Christmas, it would be likely that the Report would be in Prescott's Office in "the first full week of January".

Other highlights of the day:-

1. Falmer Parish Council's application for their costs to be paid by the Football Club - apparently on the grounds that the Public Inquiry was only necessary because the Club failed to submit enough information for the City Council to have considered the application properly in June 2002 and (on the basis of the information that was presented at the Inquiry) any right minded Council would have turned the stadium down. This obvious outcome would have avoided the need for Falmer Parish Council to have employed an expensive barrister and all the assorted bat experts that they have paid for. Therefore the Football Club should cover all their costs.

2. The discovery that the so-called public footpath diversion wouldn't be necessary, because the public right of way is a right of way to use the whole of Village Way, not just the footway that goes along the side it. The existing footway will disappear when the access road is widened, the new one will be within the space currently occupied by the Village Way right of way. So last week's Argus story turns out to be complete tosh. Even Lewes District Council accepted that there was no issue to be resolved.

3. Martin Perry inviting the Lewes District Council barrister to join him for a drink when the first match is played at Falmer.

I think we could then invite MP & DK for a drink (or 22,000)

Lets hope the decision is positive then.

If it goes against us then surely Prescott knows that he is basically rubber-stamping the end of Brighton/Hove based Labour MP's. I doubt Caplin has failed to remind him of this point.

Its all politics in the end.

Anyone else like me out there I wonder who

1) Lives in one of the constituencies (Hove personally)
2) Voted Labour in the last election
3) Would certainly not vote Labour again if the decision went against us
