Only 20 so still bags of potential. Unfortunately in a position we've got an abundance at. Loan doesn't seem to have worked out like anyone hoped.

Wouldn't be surprised if we sold him and alternatively would be happy if he stayed and fought for a place.

Look how much Ayari has improved this season after his naff loan at Blackburn.

He's very much a schemer in behind the striker - a number 10 if you will! And we only have Pedro, Rutter, O'Riley, Gruda, Enciso, arguably Ayari and Facu who can play there
IMO Two of those will probably be gone . Rutter will be first choice assuming he gets over his injury. Neither O'Riley or Gruda have shown enough that they are better. Ayari is much more box to box than a 10

This is the problem Facu has.

I think we'll sell the lad. He'll undoubtedly have a good career, but we've gone a bit Chelsea buying in that position, so the pathway we likely told him would be there, Isn't

I disagree with this. You're not comparing like with like - Rutter is older than Gruda and has had a couple of seasons in English football, Gruda arrived injured and has barely had six months. However, in these last few weeks he's proved to be a real creative spark - I thought his performance against Liverpool was one of the best of the season and I think he'll be our main No 10 once he gets more used to the EPL. He delivers a mean dead ball, something we haven't had for some time.

But that's not to say there's no place for Buonanotte - you don't get picked for Argentina unless you're a class player and there'll definitely be room for him in the squad.

He's made 40 appearances for us over the two seasons prior to him going on loan, making his debut for us having just turned 18 and now had three seasons in the Premier League and is still only 20. Another one who is incredibly mature beyond his years.

I think he could well prove to be the best of all the youngsters we have bought through and that includes some very, very good players. He's not going anywhere :albion2:

This. Gruda is excellent.

If anyone is likely to get fewer games, I would say it is O’Riley, who although a different type of player, is arguably the weakest out of the players he’s competing against.

Totally agree. Gruda, Gomez and to a lesser extent O'Reilly have all shown good end of season form. FH will certainly want to see all the options available pre-season. Gruda, Gomez, O'Reilly, Buonanotte and Enciso may not all be in our first team squad next season, but need to be fully assessed pre-season before any decisions are made. So enthused for next season.....

I think O'reilly stays as he's a Home Grown player.
Facundo also stays as I believe he'll count as a HGP at the end of next season, Enciso would too btw.

HGP's are significantly more valuable to English clubs which is why Joao Pedro won't be cheap.

Our attacking line-up for next season is exciting, if unpredictable. I'm beginning to wonder whether we see Georginio as the natural successor to Danny. He's the most physical of our strikers, great feet and holds the ball up well, even though Danny with him in the 10 role has been, I think, our best this season. And I still haven't written off 20 year old Ferguson. There is a player in there somewhere.

Then we have Gruda, O'Riley, Goodnight and Enciso looking at the 10 role (and this is assuming Joao Pedro is on his way).

Defensive midfield seems well covered with Baleba, Weiffer, Hinsh, Ayari and Gomez.

Mitoma, Minteh, Solly, Adingra out wide, and this is before the youngsters coming through and returning from loan.

When are the fixtures out ......

Haven’t followed the entire thread, but HGP wise, are we not quite well covered?

On the surface you’d say yes, 12 of our 22 man named squad are home grown. But Welbeck, Dunk and Milner may be in the twilight of their careers. Webster and March are also in the older players category. Rushworth, Joao Pedro and Lamptey could be off this summer. So we definitely have to keep an eye on the future, but with Facundo, Enciso (if he stays), Hinsh
, Beadle and Howell all eventually becoming home grown we have some depth there.

Aside from the youngsters coming through and those returning from loan lets not forget Tzimas as the Danny replacement and Watson as a wide option. Heck of a squad next season.

Currently! Almost certain to be quite a few shipped out or sold. Unmanageable in midfield at least.

🤞Facu stays for me
