Fabrice Muamba- any plans by players / fans for the Derby game..

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

The only tenuous connection we have is that Kazenga Lua Lua also hails from the Congo but as Muamba left when he was eleven years old it seems unlikely that they would know each other.

I hope he gets better as much as the next person, but tomorrow night, my thoughts will be firmly on us hopefully absolutely SMASHING Derby County, nothing else.

Can't imagine I'm the only one. Think Buzzer has nailed this firmly on the head.

We rarely agree but your spot on here.

No. Please no. We're all wishing him well so can we please leave it at that? No minute's applause, no banners, no announcements before the game, no chants, just let us keep our thoughts and prayers to ourselves. These gestures are getting to be like some kind of emotional tourism.

Post of the day. I'm also surprised that Bolton are considering withdrawing from the cup. If it was me, I'd want my team to go back to Spurs, give them a tonking and win the thing. Show as much fight as he has done.

The danger of all this sentiment is it all becomes a bit much. Using Gary Speed as an example, I was shocked and moved when I found out he had died. By the time I had sat through the 20th minute of applause on MOTD and MOTD2 the only thing that was moving was my fingers to the remote control.

Couldn't have said it any better than that.

Thank god. I expressed the same sentiments on the previous Muamba thread & a few people seemed to think I was being harsh.

If you want to wish him well, write to him. Or just keep him in your thoughts. Just because the rest of us aren't sending flowers to the Reebok (believe it or not, plenty have) or making banners, doesn't mean we don't care, but nor does it make us complete bastards either.

And I thought I was the only one who thinks this mawkishness is just over the top. There was a minute's applause for him on Sunday! A minute's applause! Just baffling.

100% agree. If God is going to get any credit for "saving" him then he absolutely must take the blame for giving him the problem in the first place. Naturally I hope Muamba gets better but keep religious claptrap out of this.

Can see where you're coming from DD, but unfortunately we live in a sinful, 'fallen' world....
As a Christian I'm not a believer in 'Religion' but I do believe that God works in weird but friggin wonderful ways!!!
On the other hand COME ON YOU SEAGULLS!!!!

The name gives it away
Like everybody else I hope the lad recovers and wish him a speedy recovery. However I do wonder what the reaction would have been if had been playing for Hereford, Accrington or even Crawley Town. I think that the Sky Sports News coverage has been totally over the top and almost mawkish.

Seriously, the only thing Muamba would want us to do tonight is smash Derby, I hope the Boys oblidge.

As one professional to another, If one of our players has a T-shirt made up that would be a nice touch, but as fans we should not be involved.

I hope the fella continues his recovery and that his ordeal somehow benefits the game and general healthcare in general. But I agree that there should be no formal or even informal tribute to Muamba at tonight's match.

Sitting here watching the repatriation of those five brave soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment kind of puts the whole thing into perspective. We could have a minute's silence at every game with the terrible loss of life still being suffered by our armed forces.

lol..i was hoping he would expand on the ''religious claptrap'' seems as though people saying they will pray for him has helped his nearest and dearest......re tonight one has to draw a line somewhere and u can't have every match dedicating something to Mr M....better still to enjoy a good game of football..with no aggro on or off the pitch

Thank God, what a lot of sense has been written on this thread.

This public outpouring of 'grief' seems to have started with Diana and just turned into mawkishness - people trying to outgrief each other. Pray 4 Muamba? What a load of cobblers, half the people saying it have probably never stepped foot in a church or prayed, and god didn't save him, the paramedics who were there as a result of a change in the regulations after Cech's injury about the provision of paramedics / ambulances saved him. 12 people a week die of this sudden cardiac arrest, where was god then?

p.s. god doesn't exist.

in yur opinion he/she doesn't...but it seems clearly from what has been reported that prayers have in fact helped bring comfort to his fiancee...family etc...maybe u should start another thread up re your ''god doesn't exist'' bit..but in meantime...can we enjoy tonight's game :)

Couldn't have put it any better. Totally agree (especially with the p.s). Each to their own of course but this ancient, superstitious, mumbo jumbo notion that if we all suddenly pray then God will overturn his decision is so breathtakingly ridiculous that I'm staggered by the amount of people who've suddenly started propagating it. Presumably these are the same people who thank God for a miracle when one person survives an earthquake but conveniently forget that by the same token he will have caused the earthquake to start with. And of course the immediate retort is, "Well God moves in mysterious ways" NONSENSE!!!
