Much how he is doing a good job as the national manager does the FA really have to offer him a new Bumper contract while he still has another 2 years to run?

It seems nothing has been learned after Sven, And we are going to give a manager a high wage and long contract.

I read somewhere that he has a clause in the current one that lets him walk away after this world cup. The FA want to keep him, so need to do something (in their opinion).

I've read that Capello wants that clause removed as much as the FA, for job security.

Pretty sure it was either party that could walk.

In this day and age you shouldn't be able to offer contracts longer than say 3 years. And yes I include Gus in that. I really don't agree with the folk who say give him a contract for as many years as he likes. You're just asking for trouble

It occurred to me at halftime yesterday, Gareth Southgate's quote about Sven - "We needed Churchill in the dressing room and we got [insert wet blanket simile here]".

I think urbane art-collecting European managers are passe for me now - all very well when things are going smoothly but when the team needs a kick I'm not sure I have faith in Fabio. Sure, he hasn't got to manage England by being useless at motivating but wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall as GUS POYET slates Ferdinand to his face and cuffs Walcott round the head for being infuriating?

I know I would.

I have no doubt Capello would make Gus sound like the beginner he is in handing out a changing room bollocking.

I gather he is not seeking an improved wage, and the option to go to 2012 was already there. So, provided he is not tempted by any other offers, and we presume it would be Inter at the top odf the list, it should be carry on as normal - unless we bomb to Algeria, of course, then he'll be run out of the country faster than you can cook a pan of spaghetti.
