http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/news/Leeds-United-star-charged-with.4826436.jpLEEDS United and teenage England international star Fabian Delph has been charged with drink driving.
The talented 19-year-old midfielder, who scored the second goal in United's 3-1 League One win at Stockport yesterday, was stopped by police on the day before Christmas Eve and was arrested after giving a roadside breath test.
It is understood that the player, who shone in his debut game with the England under 21s side last month and has been in the sights of a number of clubs, was stopped on December 23 in the Rothwell area by a police patrol.
After giving a breath sample he was taken to a local police station where he was arrested on suspicion of driving while over the prescribed limit of alcohol in his bloodstream.
He was subsequently charged with the offence and was released on bail pending a magistrates court appearance expected to take place later next month.
The details of what led to Delph being stopped by the patrol are not clear, but it is believed he had been giving someone a lift to the Rothwell Haigh area including at least one female passenger.
If convicted of drink-driving Delph would normally be looking at an automatic 12-month driving ban, unless there were particularly strong mitigating reasons to impose a lower penalty.
In addition he could face an internal disciplinary.
The player signed his first professional two-and-a-half year contract with Leeds United in January this year after coming up from the ranks of the club's training Academy.
Obvously he forgets what happend to Luke Mcormack.. Players are role models to all and so should act as such.
