This too. Our CMs are very talented, but don’t really know how to stop someone like Wharton dictating a game. That’s what a bit of experience offers.

When can we discuss a manager who has lost both derby games for first time in c100 years (and down to 9 men!!!) and oversaw our worst defeat at top level (and one of worst in clubs history)?

I'd refer you back to RDZ there. Whether we lose twice to Crystal Palace is pretty irrelevant. They are just another team in the league. Albion lost 5-1 at home to Everton which is no different to a 7-0 tonking away from home. It's a tonking. Only on that occasion to a team down the table, not in the top four.

Taking out the surprise Forest package, Albion's position in the league is fine when weighted against all factors.

One thing I would say is Albion fans are world class in finding reasons not to be disappointed or excuses to offset. I think that’s a significant reason in why we’re regarded as small club that’s won nothing. Mindset isn’t there, never has been and still isn’t even after 7 seasons in top league. Steady, well run but ultimately won nothing major. Not even the Championship. In 124 years and counting.

I don’t want Fab out, he’s a rookie and we’ve had another run of injuries at a crucial point in the season, we also concede to every half decent shot on goal. Bart is reminding me of Ryan in his first few games. I have lowered my expectations for this season to trying to finish above Palace

It’s likely to be a tough challenge though.

So far in the last 90mins, Fab needs to go again, so who do we replace him with? We also need to have some kind of fire sale to sell everyone, so again who do we replace them with? ......

.....I know, with TBs deep pockets, we'll buy the best 11 players from the Top 6 Clubs - but I doubt that would appease a minority of the fanbase

I'm actually concerned about a minority of said fanbase, I really hope they are kept away from sharp implements in the 24hrs following a Brighton loss or draw

Anything can be discussed, but folks will look at things differently. I'm one of those who always looks for reasons not be disappointed, I guess. It saves my emotions. I don't get angry at bad results, more philosophical. It can't be changed. They lost today, the sun will still rise tomorrow.

But as regards winning nothing, the team we played today have never won anything major either. Nor have Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth. Newcastle hadn't won anything for decades, nor have Leeds United. It's nearly always the big sides. So folk adjust their temperaments. The less you expect, the less you are disappointed and frustrated. I'm comfortable with that. And it makes no difference to the club's desire to be among the best regardless.

That’s rather obvious. However disappointment is ever proportional to the here and now. And we’ve just lost to our rivals down to 9 men, in both derbies, for first time in 100 years, with record expenditure and sat higher in the table (at least for now). Agree with the talent bit but decision making was bordering on moronic at times today, particularly in injury time

I think this hits the nail on the head.
We’ve got some good young midfielders but there are times when you need someone with experience and craft. Today’s game situation was crying out for Pascal.
Plus we need a quality replacement for Lewis Dunk. Someone with pace. Not saying Lewis is done but I think he’ll play a bit part next season which I think will be his last on his contract?

I do recall them getting to the Premier League before us, have spent one more season than us in the PL, so you could argue they are more established......

I'm still in the "Fab in" camp after we bounced back from the sh*tshow at Forest, but we have to find a way to attack quicker and more direct. We can't win games by passing the ball on the half way line.
