They knew the rules when they entered.

True. But it doesn't mean they can't be challenged. Fair play to them.

load of united fans who have seen enough glory for 5 lifetimes decide they want a new way in which to be arrogant and smug

'United not for sale' etc what a load of shite, as if they were a mutally owned club or some such

having cake and eating it

yep. smells a little of publicity stunt, they know full well the FA wouldn't change the rules for them, otherwise everyone will expect the same. maybe the rules need a change, so that clubs can charge what they like and refuse TV, even if that means the other club suffers? like the way they've dealt with the price issue though.

Or proper football fans from Manchester that were fed up with modern football.
High prices.
Half and half scarf wearing tourists.
Spectators with iPads filming games.
American owners.

That's all well and good but the prices have to be agreed with the opposition as well. It's all well and good FC making gestures but the opposition are entitled to expect some gate money over and above their expenses. FC might well be a well run club but other clubs are under the cosh financially. The FA, like them or loathe them, also need to make money and they take their cut of the gate money.

Err.......it's only a pound difference.

The FA might therefore get about an extra £300.

Compared to the amount they spunked on the World Cup bid, or the near £800 million on the white elephant that is Wembley, it is insignificant.

Admission prices are set from the early rounds ,many non league clubs have to put up their prices because The Fa say so.

Isn't it more about the principle though?

This was actually introduced to ensure that small clubs drawn away to lower FL clubs got a nice slice of gate revenue, not for any other nefarious reason.

Forget their history or lack thereof but I support their stance.

Totally agree with them.

However I am a bit confused how the FA can insist on them playing this game on a Monday night? Surely the clubs have the right to say no? Disgraceful if not.

1. I didn't know the host club for an FA cup needed to agree pricing with the opposition.
2. I didn't know until this mini protest that the FA set minimum ticket prices for FA cup rounds - and I've been going to qualifying and first round propers for 30 years!

So all in all, if anything they've highlighted a few things I didn't know at least. Can't believe any football fan can actually defend the FA insisting a club raise it's ticket prices from a price point the club is happy with.

oh well, don't show it on tele, take away the tele money, screw em

don't moan about the rules when entering the competition.....they've not been in the news recently, obviously telling people they are still relevant?

A football club that puts fans first clearly isn't relevant to you.

hardly

so if this match is a sellout, it contradicts what they have said?

if they progress up the leagues, will they refuse to ever move a game?

cant have it both ways

FCUM's aim is to keep prices as low as possible, which is why they charge only £9 to watch a match. I suspect that if admission prices were £10 it would make very little difference, but they've costed out the season, and aim to break even on £9.

Your argument is similar to that of Arsenal in relation to the Bayern Munich match last week. Bayern sold all the tickets at £62, so therefore the price was fair. They could equally have sold tickets for £20, £30, £40 etc and sold out.

Leeds charged us £42 for POTG ten days ago, and fans turned up, so is that price reasonable too?

FCUM's position on TV is unequivocal, fans would prefer to watch matches at 3pm on a Saturday, so the club do all they can to deliver this.

No one at FCUM (and I have to declare an interest here as a co-owner of the club) anticipated the progress that has been made up through the leagues.

There is a world of difference between the FA Cup replay match against the Albion a few seasons ago, which would always have been at 7:45pm on a midweek date, and moving the kickoff from 3pm on a Saturday to 7:45pm on a Monday.

Come to a match at Broadhurst Park and see what the club does.

It pays the living wage to staff, has terraces, lots of noise, and everyone enjoys themselves. A club that is 15th in National League North doesn't play the greatest football, but it is an enjoyable day out, at a very fair price, for those who have been disillusioned and disenfranchised by the 'promised land' of 'the best league in the world' ((c) Alan Green, Sky et al).
