Judges decided to annul the previous appeal verdict of not guilty, citing “material errors” as the reason.
That means Frank Williams, Patrick Head and Adrian Newey must face a new appeal procedure.
The court’s ruling comes exactly a month before the tenth anniversary of the legendary Brazilian’s death at Imola on 1 May 1994.
However, the date for a new hearing is yet to be set because, under Italian law, a written explanation must first be published.
Williams, Head and Newey were all cleared of manslaughter by a Bologna court in 1997 and the verdict was upheld on appeal in 1999.
