Because the stewards don't tell drivers to give the place back and haven't for a couple of years.
It got changed to the teams decide amongst themselves or the stewards intervene and give a penalty if they should have given the place back.

Think I read somewhere that it was 5 seconds as it was the first lap and would have likely been 10 seconds any other lap? Delicious to see the sourness pouring off Max n Christian though.
Sprint pole for Antonelli, staggeringly good showing to push the McLarens down from what looked a nailed on front row

The sprint race was excellent. Lando lucked out with his pit stop timing, and the Red Bull pit crew were shockingly bad releasing Max straight into Antonelli. Well done Lewis for taking a flyer on slicks and coming third.

A great sprint but a boring main event once Piastri had hit the front. I’m really not sure about Miami.

I'm back! Sorry, the month of April was a bit of a write off for me being able to check back in here and deliver any interesting snippets of news. Had 3 and a bit weeks holiday in Singapore and Australia, followed the results each weekend but didn't actually see much of the action itself. Partly because I was too busy enjoying myself and partly because there's no free-to-air option in Australia.
Anyway ... back now, and loving seeing Piastri putting together a run of form that puts him in a strong spot early in this WDC chase. Very much looks like it's boiling down to a 3-way fight at the moment:
Piastri - cool, calm, collected, patient. Is quick, without being the quickest, but is really using his head well to put the pieces together and deliver the results. First driver to win 3 in a row for McLaren since Hakkinen (and the only others were Prost and Senna). Have a feeling he's still getting better, so any points lead he builds now is only going to get harder to overcome as the season progresses.
Norris - very quick when he puts it together, but... Too many errors. Not entirely happy with the way the car handles. Can he get it all together before Piastri has built too big a lead and unlocks even more pace? Will McLaren let them race, or do they call it off and focus on Piastri if Red Bull sort their car troubles out?
Verstappen - The quickest, most ruthless of the trio. Has title winning pedigree. But the car isn't good, he's dragging it places it shouldn't be. Can Red Bull fix the car in time? Or are they wasting effort trying to figure out a way to nobble McLaren instead of fixing their own car?
Behind them ... Antonelli and Hadjar are both impressing as rookies. Bortoleto is showing flashes as well, in a terrible car. Ferrari aren't quick enough (made a mistake with their car concept?). Mercedes are still track-dependent; some tracks they're mega, others not so, and thus not really in a position to fight for titles. Williams seem to be making progress. Albon impressing, Sainz slowly seems to be finding his feet.
Alpine ...
Ugh. Yep, it's very harsh. General feeling I'm seeing among journos is a mixture of on one hand "if Doohan had put the weekends together, he could have prevented this" and on the other "but Alpine put him under immense extra pressure and he's shown he can be as quick as Gasly at times". My feeling is that if Colapinto didn't exist, and Alpine had been willing to commit to giving Doohan the whole year without added pressure, the likelihood is that we'd eventually see Doohan pretty close to, if not matching, Gasly by the end of the season. But a) Colapinto (and his sponsors) exists, b) Alpine wasn't willing, and c) Doohan won't be given the time.
Is Doohan the best of the rookie intake this season? If I'm honest, my answer is "no". But there's nuance here: young Jack strikes me as very similar to his dad Mick. Mick Doohan wasn't a world beater in his first season on 500cc bikes either. He became a world beater through dedication, work ethic, persistence, etc etc. I think Jack's got a lot of that make up as well. He's not a raw talent, but given time and support he could be polished into a pretty decent talent - probably a better one than some drivers who will likely have much longer careers in F1.
I may be in for a dose of being wrong again ... but I would not be surprised to see Colapinto do no better than Doohan has. But then, he surprised me with how good he was in his Williams stint last season; but I do wonder how much of that impression was created by Albon being off-form for a few races when Colapinto came in, and once Albon stepped it up again Colapinto had some crashes and pace didn't look as good as the season ended. Hence Red Bull dropping their interest.

I also think on this he benefited from being compared with Logan Sergeant, who I’m sure was a lovely chap but a very, very average F1 driver (being generous)
