Is it just me or do Nvidia think it's really funny to f*** with your computer?

My stoopid machine came with a Fx5200 256mb card but the driver CD that came with it has never worked (just won't read in the drive). So I have to spend best part of 2 hours downloading the latest drivers from Nvidia's website. As soon as I have the new drivers Windows restarts itself and I'm left with no screen whatsoever meaning it's back out and into safe mode. Whilst in safe mode I have to uninstall all my graphics drivers so I am left with a pathetic 16 colous in ugly 640x480 resolution.
Now, back in normal windows with ugly display I try searching the net for advice and what do I find? Unanimous admittance that the latest Nvidia drivers are in fact shite and simply won't work. So thanks a lot Nvidia, I now have to trawl the 'net to find drivers that are over a year old for my card because all the latest ones don't work.

What is the point of updating device drivers to newer ones that don't work? And furthermore why must your machine erase all knowledge of previous drivers when updating, so if it doesn't work you are f***ed?

I hate you Nvidia. I hate you

Err, a totally blank screen probably means your monitor cannot handle the graphics mode being sent out.

If you have a TFT its your fault and not nVidia.

But anyway, only ever buy Canadian graphics cards - ATi and Matrox.

It's not a TFT, it's a good old fashioned CRT monitor.

So it is Nvidia's fault.

I wish I'd known all this before buying my new machine. There was me thinking I'd bought myself a super swanky top of the range powerful behemoth only to find out that the 256mb of Graphics card I chose was a total bunch of arse.

256mb of Graphical memory should be swanky and great I thought?

Curse you Nvidia, for making me this way!

Nope, you can have a 256MB SiS and it'll still be slower than an 8MB Millennium II

A lot of crap cards are 'upgraded' by the makers to get gullible people to buy them on RAM size only. They're still shit cards.
