Thank you Beachy.
Is that on BBC.co.uk or is it a TV thing? If it is a TV thing I don't have anything apart from normal telly (ie - BBC1 / 2 , ITV and C4).

Think it might be repeated on Sunday.

I enjoyed it not as funny as some of the other episodes, but ie was still really good, there was some hilrious stuff and I liked his speech at the end

I thought it was excellent, and the BB rant was superb!

The telly this Xmas has been WOEFUL so I had made an effort to watch this and it did not let me down. It was SUPERB. Not quite the heights of the Office Xmas special but that was probably the greatest ever tv comedy stand alone show (s). It was close though and I particularly liked his run in with Gordon Ramsey. It had many many excellent moments and had a message to it.

Gervais has come up with a corker and it was the best ever Extra's episode imho.

9.1

I wondered if the joke was all about us watching it in the first place. An awfully unrealistic take on struggles in life that perhaps only the overly successful could see. The Big Brother pastiche was embarassingly bad to watch, and not because it was meant to make us feel so. Just that it was all so poorly researched and offered people no core to human suffering, no underbelly to the inedible steak of vapid failure, no shamefacedness to those who honestly lust for what they aren't skilled enough to achieve.
I suppose i admire sideways views of things, and this was as self-obsessedly MOR as i could bear myself to painedly see. Also just very unfunny. Apart from Merchant, who was humourous.

Well I liked it but as with every thread ever on NSC there is always someone who bucks the trend trying to be superior and clever with some mumbo jumbo psycho babble

Hello US.
You and i have the opposite tastes, that's all. I found it a most vacuous undertaking, but i haven't enjoyed either of the series of Extras despite being a Gervais fan before. Just a bit egotistically uninventive, i thought.

It was quality.
The George Michael bit was fantastic - serving community service for fly-tipping
"I was just helping Annie Lennox get rid of her old fridge-freezer in the skip down the road. f***ing Sting saw us and phoned the council."

:lolol:

And the bit where his new agent is trying to get him to shack up with some celebrity slapper. "You're a c-list celeb right now. You want to make the B-list don't you ?"
"Yeah, but not the Hepatitus B list"

Thats just great writing.

It was QUALITY tv. The bit with the Guardian reporter round his house was toe-curlingly hard to watch, but very funny.

And the bit where he has his rant in the CBB house, and that slag threatens to follow him out of the show. "But the paperazzi are out there - just give me five mins to put on my bikini" :D

I thought it was brilliant cutting-edge stuff, many back-of-the-net points about the nature of C-list celebrity. Not rip-roaringly funny, but fine intelligent comedy nonetheless. Mind you, I thought the dream-sequence episode of Holby City earlier in the evening was riveting also, so what do I know? :dunce:

I agree with Easy 10, but in my mind they were the only funny parts of it!

I much preferred Graham Norton on Boxing Day. Russell Brand talking to some sex chat line in character as Aladdin was HILARIOUS!
