Excuse me , but about Knight (Dick)....

I have done this before at one time, and at risk of seeming jingo-istic, or dramatic, I will reiterate ;

Dick Knight rules - absolutely priceless .
A quick recap back to the saving of BHAFC from extinction, which has faded in some minds - and is quickly forgotten in the frustrations of others.
There are many clubs in the league that do 'covert' business behind closed doors, tell their fans and shareholders nothing, and do dirty deals at great risk to their football club. We have seen the results from self-serving 'suits', opportunists with NO regard for the club supporters. I am not talking about a couple of clubs here either - the count might run to well over half, even most of the league.

In the face of financial and political pressures, as well as ill-informed critics, many chairmen would be sympathised with if they threw in the towel rather than deal with the crap hitting the fan.
At Brighton we have the man who is keeping the team within the city, at vast inconvenience. Many players and managers 'demand' better facilities and big money to pave their easier way - but somehow the Albion staff see past that for a tangible cause.

I won't do a recounting of the wise appointments that have seen Brighton get THIS far, (and I personally STILL regard Martin Hinshelwood as a good try, and hats off to both MH and DK that he's still back there - perhaps that's actually more evidence as to how the club attract such as Steve Coppell).

I could go on, but just to underline this missive's statement,
we should feel lucky to have a chairman in Dick Knight - and praise him for making things happen and for (rightly) going after the stadium our city and county deserves. At any level, keeping The ALBION in the game the way he has, and working toward achieving the goals as he has, in not bowing in the face of adversity, and doing everything he can to keep the bow of the ship on course - my hat goes off to him.

Mr Knight, as a distant fan, an occasional face in the crowd with regard for a part of mine and many others' history, and continuing hope and faith for the future - I thank you.

There are times when DK appears to be moving too slowly on some issues (and he does move slowly sometimes) and a lot of people get frustrated with him but without his efforts this club would not be where it is today-still functioning!

Wish he had more money though:lolol:

We all wish BHA had more disposable dosh I'm Brian, but big-money chairmen that also care deeply about their club are few and far between.

Before FG reads it Beach Hut, my answer to him is already;
"oh yeah? and where were/are those big money concerns when we needed/need them? Jostling each other in the line to pitch in and save The Albion - riiiight !
I'll let Rupert Murdoch (that lifelong Seagull) know that Brighton are available for investment shall I FG ?"

.....and this post bounces my thread once more

Agree wholeheartedly, except for the bit about Martin Hinshelwood. He was always going to be out of his depth, and the same applies to Jeff Wood's appointment.

His record speaks for itself. But even if we'd won a championship
every season, he'd still have detractors.

He fecked up enormously last pre season and it ultimately cost us our first division spot. But you can only ask that someone learns from their mistakes and he appears to have done so.

Hats off to him

I don't

the temptaion to blow it on ephemeral wages would be far too great

the great thing about having very litle money to play with is that you HAVE to make sure very penny counts

and thats why we have not gone tits up in the last 7 years unlike so many other clubs

Dick Tight more like, did he disclose the fee for Leon, no explain where the money for past sales have gone no, explain that he has an obsession with Falmer at the expense of the playing side no, explain why he said it would not be a disaster if we got relegated last seaosn, no!

Albion support is wide-s[read in the county and theres a large contingency from the Horsham/Crawley area so there is a stupidity in Silents part being obsessed with keeping the club in the City, it makes sense to have looked outside but no his is a pipe dreamer of one thing only Falmer.

Tinselwood is a clown and is part of Silents circus how you can applaud that appointment is well laughable LOL! As for SC he is Pal@rse always was always will be. Why was no other club interested in him and he came to us coz no one else was as daft as Silent but to have him in charge thats why.

SSilent is pennyless potless and wasteful with the little he has the sale of Zamora was a complete mess orchastracted by him he got HALF what he could and should have what a twit Silent really is.

How much slower and longer can Silent get with the extra seats they waited to see if we would go down then thought hang on ticket sales for season tickets not as great as expected put all eggs in basket of Falmer now the real situation is they cant afford to get these new seats in as the money being wasted on Falmer is unbelievable why dont they show us the expenditure accounts there coz they are collossal thats why other clubs spend less than half the amount is projected Albion will and can do it in half the time they are slow and shouldve looked at alternative sites that could fulfill the so called potential much much quicker and still allow investment into the playing side something Silent has forgotten about its only when he gets a backlash after balls up the sale of Zamora that he then attempts to make up for it with signing his namesake!

Where has all the money from those sales gone? Where has the saved fees gone? Its riddiculous we have such a large professional staffing when clearly about half wont even make the subs bench this seaosn we either invest in the youngsters and stick ewith them or boot them out there are too many and we should be making our minds up which ones will make grade and which wont.
