I think MA was out of work, and all the players we got in were 'surplus' at Brentford or Fulham. I seem to remember that they kept unsettling players. I could be remembering it wrong though.

Chris Birchill and Doug Livermore - thought it was going to be the dream midfield to move us up the table. Ended up being Doug Loft and Tommy Fraser saving us from relegation.

Who was the other french winger we had? Not Carole the other one at around the same time?

Just looked it up, Alex Frutos, currently playing in Belgium. I liked him

Federico Turienzo for a number of reasons.

Kevin McLeod, awesome in pre season, actually quite fat.

Wayne Henderson, young, internationally capped 'keeper who's best skill was gently palming the ball back into the 6-yard box to an opposition striker.

I also remember thinking that our club was making a ludicrous mistake latting Bas Savage go.

Dean Saunders looked good to start with but at the end he was no better than a Worthing cast off:rolleyes:

Lloyd Owuso?

Loft, Fraser and Owuso's goals saved us from League 2, so hardly looking rather silly.

I don't remember anyone getting excited about Wayne Henderson joining us, but I do remember him keeping a clean sheet at Selhurst Park something none of our other recent keepers have managed.

... Kevin Thornton - anyone remember him? He was our most technically gifted and intelligent player apart from Murray about 3/4 seasons ago. Attitude was poor though and his fitness levels were abysmal. If his head was screwed on he could have been a comfortable Championship player for 4 or 5 years.

I liked him as well - could see a pass, and actually make it. Shame about the other stuff - it seems so many players have missed out on a good career because of non-football stuff.

I was going to say the same. Looked awesome in his first few games (looked quality away at Crewe) - he then discovered pies and all things deep-fried.

He was actually good for us though. As was Kevin Thornton - anyone remember him? He was our most technically gifted and intelligent player apart from Murray about 3/4 seasons ago. Attitude was poor though and his fitness levels were abysmal. If his head was screwed on he could have been a comfortable Championship player for 4 or 5 years.

Racon was good for us and I think we all expected big things from him but his career seems to have stalled massively. As Granny Weatherwax said I think he would have progressed more if he had stayed with us.
