Poor performance all over the pitch but especially in defence White and Lampity both fantastic players but both still very young and lack experiance at this level same in midfield with Alzate and Bossuma same up front with Connerly.

The old quote you never win anything with just kids which is where You need a few old heads to help guide them, what you can't do is have all the kids on the field and the old heads on the bench

Good time to have an international break. Time to work on some defending. Good to have the Palace game next too I feel as form means nothing going into a Derby.
Today Ancelotti completely out did Potter, closing the space in midfield and hitting us on the break. Not many times that Potter has been out thought but this was one.
Everton look a good team. Bad day at the office for us.

I’m still very much team Potter. But... sort out the set pieces please.

Both ends. Can't defend them can't attack with them. Who the hell sits there and decides we should pass backwards from corners and freekicks and then ****ing zonal marking it's just freak defending. Added to which having a small keeper hellbent on staying on his line is only ever going to end with conceding goals.

All this crap posted on here about a manager knowing better than supporters, sometimes they ****ing don't. There's a lot of us who have played, coached and watched an awful lot of football and maybe just maybe we might be right.

Don’t matter Biss.

Sorry.

No one cares.

I care. Best goal of the game . It will hopefully keep him buoyant and so he will try to do it more often. Pickford is not a great keeper but we did not test him enough. We need to understand the concept of corners .

We were never as good as people started to think we were after Newcastle, we aren’t as bad as people think we are tonight!

Very bad today. Sloppy in possession. Set pieces at both ends were terrible. Played the game at a very slow pace and seemed to have no ambition or attacking intent. Everton were well coached, kept their shape very well, gave no space and were clinical when the errors came. Hopefully a wake up. We looked like Barcelona at times against United. Today we looked like Wenger's later period Arsenal at their flimsiest. Ancelotti set up in the right way to nullify us completely. Potter has to remember that those good away results were founded on good organisation, defensive solidity, doing the simple things and waiting for an opportunity. Time for a reset and a lot of hard work to be done.

Somewhere down the middle over the season and we'll be fine. All teams have off days. We've come unstuck against a team absolutely brimming with confidence all over the pitch and who look likely to challenge for top four. Goals against column isn't looking great currently though but at least we've scored a few. Obvious we need to work on set pieces at both ends though

we had 10 corners, in those conditions, with that keeper

cannot get my head around our approach to them

Well, that was mostly thoroughly depressing. Everton are very impressive, they pretty much out everythinged us. As poor as we were(and we were ****ing awful) they were good.

The only real positive I can take form that game is that we don't have Pickford in goal. Other than that there were a lot of deficiencies that are in danger of becoming a recurring habit.

Just gifted it to Everton today with woeful defending, they really aren't that good.
I think that in the next week or so we need to practice how to defend better because we were just awful at times.

What a bizarre game.

Watched it from start to finish and thought that it was our worst performance for a long time. Yet thinking about it we created chances yet refused to shoot. Mina made about 4 crucial blocks and we looked at our most shaky when we had a corner.

Defence needs some immediate attention.
