Ferguson is 17 and is absolutely a talent but he’s played a fair few games in the u23s this season where he’s not had a lot of impact. As you’d expect. He’s still developing. Give him time. He doesn’t score goals like this every week.

Same age as Rooney was at Everton; fair bit older than Trevor Francis .............. but never mind that. Sitting on the bench isn't going to hinder his development, nor will it weaken the matchday sqaud. We can't use all the subs anyway .... and if we're two or three up (or two or three down!) ten minutes of PL action would be a great bit of education, with no downside for us.

Richards aand Sarmiento, OK. Locadia, no - and at the moment, I don't know what the score is with Connolly, but he doesn't seem to be in favour atm. I've watched most of the televised U23 games this season. Inconsistancy doesn't really matter if all he's doing is warming the bench!
With the number of (unused) subs we can have now, you could make a case for rewarding each U23 MOTM with a bench place fir the next game - good incentive!
