My son used to support Everton when he was little but now he's a complete Brighton fanatic.

Both clubs names end in 'ton'. The origin of "ton" is a Saxon term for a place surrounded by a hedge or palisade.

We have only played each other in the league 8 times (during the 4 years we were in the top flight).

Err.. that's it.

So we have never played them in a cup competition? There can't be many teams we can say that about?

Same as
Me. I've been an Everton fan since Albion were relagated from Division 1 back in 1983. Been to as many Everton games as I have Brighton & sometimes wonder how I'd feel if they played each other. Hasn't happened for 30 years. Born in Brighton & been Albion longer but can't ever stop loving the Toffees!!

Edit realise the OP said playing links but all these Everton threads have set me off

Same as but from 1969. I saw all 8 games in the old 1st div but could do nothing but support my home town team Brighton

Mm mm...

I went to the Everton Watford cup final.

We saw Brighton play Everton up there sitting next to the bloke who claimed to be a relative of Ray Clemence (bear with me). My dad gave him our address and within days we received signed photographs.

I'm married to a scouser. She supports Liverpool.

That's it.

Yes we have.
3 times in the FA Cup, the last of which was in 1924 (5-2 to the Albion)
One win each and one draw.

I am trying to impress a client who supports Everton. Any playing links? Wikipedia gives me Norman Greenhalgh from 1935 but there must be others?

That's a good start. He played for NEW Brighton in Merseyside, not us.

Mick Ferguson, Mickey Thomas, Martin Keown and Alan Biley played for Everton and Brighton.

Simon Steele, the Brighton goalkeeper who played for the Seagulls against Real Madrid in 1983 was an Everton apprentice. Mark Farrington was also an apprentice at Goodison Park.

Also, when Watford reached the FA Cup Final against Everton in 1984, both their first two goalkeepers had spells at the Goldstone Ground.
