Me and Safeway have had this discussion before but Im with Tinx and Ritchie - Coldplay make great music, even if u do not like their stuff you must admit it is 10 times better than most popcrap surely ??

If you cannot hear that coldplays music is better than busted, Atomic kitten, fast food rockers, steps, blazin squad etc you must be deaf !

The whole basis of the anti-Coldplay argument is bollocks as far as I am concerned. People don't like them because they are dreary/miserable/boring blah blah blah etc.

The fact is that surely everyone, occasionally, wants to listen to music that relaxes them. It may not get the adrenaline flowing or make you want to dance, but who wants to listen to heavy rock music or dance music or whatever style you want to name, all of the time? If I want to relax I listen to Coldplay or Neil Young. For others it may be David Gray. Or perhaps classical music. Or even jazz.

I like Coldplay because they fit a gap in my CD collection alongside bands they bear no resemblance to such as QOTSA, Foo Fighters and Chemical Brothers.

cannot compere as coldplays first album parachutes was class but they have been murdered by radio 1 since the release of clocks.
and just bought our lass the evanessence album 4 for her birthday and havent really listened to it yet. but i have a sneaking suspicion that its gonna be quite painfull 4 me, as what they have released in charts seem to be shite.???

thing is she was a goth in the 80s whilst i was into rave, house, indie and clubbing.

Yes, this is very true. But I would not use Coldplay to fill this gap. Just because Chris Martin is whining slowly does not make it relaxing.

But as I've said in other threads, I like Evanescence. I'm not claiming they're groundbreaking, or that influential. But I like them.

I've been to see Evanesence at Brixton - and I like them - I think My immortal is a good song - not however as good as Tourniquet.

There not great but who is these days!
