Team of the tournament:

1. Oliver Kahn (Germany)

2. Georgios Seitardis (Greece)
3. Gianluca Zambrotta (Italy)

5. Jorge Andrade (Portugal)
6. Traianos Dellas (Greece)

7. Pavel Nedved (Czech)
4. Nuno Maniche (Portugal)
8. Anderson Deco (Portugal)
11. Luis Figo (Portugal)

9. Wayne Rooney (England) (Everton)
10. Milan Baros (Czech) (Liverpool)

Not that it was much for class shows of players. They were as bad as each other, and the stars (proma donnas) didn't show!

Not much difference, scarcely any player that was an automatic choice.

Pavel Nedved was a good choice, but he got injured.

Not sure about Kahn - I'd have picked the greek keeper as well - he kept a few clean sheets

i would have had ronaldo instead of deco or figo.
and wouldn't of had zambrotta.
other than that i would not argue with the others.

Agree on Ronaldo he was easily the best Potugal player overall.

Deco is a waste of space.

Most of them I could have changed.

The only definite was Zambrotta. The goalkeeping was a bit naff throughout. I put in Kahn becaue he caught the ball a few times. Van de Saar was the other keepr I could have chosen: I think he the best in the Premier. If he had dived the wrong way for that penalty!

Van der Saar is probably the right choice thinking about it.

Uffern
Cech (Czech Republic)
Seitardis (Greece)
Carvalha (Portugal)
Dellas (Greece)
Lahm (Germany)
Ronaldo (Portugal)
Nedved (Czech Republic)
Maniche (Portugal)
Robben (Netherlands)
Rooney (England)
Baros (Czech)

I thougt Dellas and Nedved were the best two players of the tournament.

Bit of a shortage of good strikers, although there were several outstanding defenders.

I trust you're joking Perseus. Kahn is well and truely past it. Deco has been shite all through the tournement, and Figo only picked up his form against the dutch.

I know that this sounds a bit mad but I actually dont think there was a better left back than Ashley Cole in the tournament.

Other than that I would probably swap Van der Saar for Cech but Gwlyan's team looks about right

I should not have included Deco. Should have put in a winger. The best winger in the tournament was ??

Dennis Rommedahl (Denmark) ???

I could have included any one of about three.

Not England, of course. Sven did not play a wide player. I don't think a team need two wingers not both wide at the same time as that is one less in the centre.

I think that Decco beat England. Had Sven bought on Wayne Bridge for Paul Scholes and told him to stop Decco coming forward we would have beaten Portugal. Instead he bought on Hargreaves who would struggle for us.
