Eubank was fighting in his own weight category, middleweight. All of his last few fights have been at middleweight and he's the current IBO middleweight world champion. He didn't come down in weight at all for this fight!
IBO? Isn't that a Mickey Mouse belt?

WBA, WBC, IBF and to a lesser extent WBO are the marquee belts

It wasnt hitting the 160 weight that was the issue, it was the rehydration clause and not being able to replenish like he usually would before fight night. Ordinarily he would have well over 30 hours from the weigh in to rehydrate, and would get to a much heavier weight and level of hydration for a fight than he was able to. As a result he was pretty drained and lost a lot of his power. Many of the critics where correct, its actually really dangerous to have those clauses as the risk is that you dont have the right levels of fluid around the brain which really isn't ideal if someone is punching you very hard in the head.
Rehydration clauses are pretty standard as well though, similar rehydration rules apply for a IBF world title fight. Remember Kell Brooke talking about how he was huge at the weight and went through this sort of process all the time. My point is other fighters get on with it, dont complain and send videos out of them cutting weight, if you have signed up to something get on with it! The original fight was at 157 if I remember rightly and I think thats where the narrative developed about how difficult it was going to be for Eubank to make weight, with him and his team being desperate to maintain the narrative so as if he lost he would have an excuse! The person with the real disadvantage in this instance was Connor Benn who was probably more than a stone lighter than Eubank on fight night.

I'm all for Billy Jo Saunders getting his arse handed to him on a plate by the minders to Junior's dressing room when he claimed he was just there to monitor the gloving

And then to see his groupies getting angsty on social media and threatening someone who commented in jest that he (saunders) hadn't finished his driveway yet and calling 3mm of top coat a thorough job was taking the mick
He called Eubanks manager (the big guy who didn’t let him in) “rubber lips”. I genuinely hate Saunders. Nasty piece of work and made to look a tit when turned away.

WBO was a Mickey Mouse belt before Nigel Benn came along

CEJ under investigation of breaking weight cutting rules after video footage merged of him using a body sauna

"The BBBofC rules indicate that use of a sauna and heat suit are strictly prohibited."

Chris agreed to the weight, so it's not the BBBoFC's concern. They just expect fighters to play by the rules
All the while they have pre-fight weight-ins they know this practice goes on. They’re supposed to oversee the welfare on boxers so it should be their concern.

Totally agree Ian - sadly I think we both know there will be at least one more fight because the money on offer will be too huge. I hope Chris Jnr makes it out the other side of that successfully, he always seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders when interviewed and he looks overdue a quiet, recuperative life away from the limelight and away from any pressures

Absolutely,;but that doesn't mean they have a person monitoring the fighters 24/7, the fighters have a set of rules to follow and if they are found to have broken a rule then it's down to the governing body to impose a sanction

I agree they can’t monitor fighters 24/7 but a rule which is proving to be regularly broken and seems unworkable needs revising.

Absolutely and I agree, I suppose the issue is that how can they rework a rule that's in place for the safety of a fighter ?
I have read something about “walking weight” and fighters being monitored during camp. Another option is urine SG test to see how dehydrated they are…outside the normal range for this and you fail.

I'm not so sure, Senior, after his WWE entrance, is a big factor in this, Ben Shalom has allegedly got one foot out of the door at Sky due to his 'social life', maybe Eubank Jnr having described almost every other promoter in the UK as a 'scumbag' will hang up his gloves and become a 21st century 'Mickey Duff' but with morals?

There will possibly be an opening at Sky in the near future if Ben doesn't mend his ways  , and after all the Kinahan stuff with MTK they'd welcome an almost squeaky clean person to work with.
