Strange that Chwistopher Lingston Eubank has been granted permission after appeal to build 41 new flats by demolishing his home. Several million in the bank for Chris but you can be your bottom dollar that the residents will be more Londoners who will snap up the flats at £ 250000 + a piece.

No local people will have a sniff and expect to see more Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs shirts in Hove at the weekends.

It is going to start a trend of selling houses and building flats to start to destroy the area and have more outsiders move into an area which is already London by the sea.

Strange that is takes them little time to allow this but 5 years and counting to provide a ground for their local football club.

It's taken him quite a while to get this through. 25% will be managed by the Housing Association.

That's actually quite a nice road.

41 flats = at least 80-100 people. They all require parking etc.

Eubank's family = 6 in total.

It's bollocks isn't it. I wish they could tax Londoners etc. when they but a property down here. I'm a local and can't even afford a shed. All these NEWBYs don't have an affinity with the area i.e. Falmer, and don't care what happens in their locale as long as 'they're alright'.

So replacing a house with one family in and replacing it with 41 flats, 25% of which will be run by a housing committee the council aren't making it easier for whining yokels like you to find a home.

Don't think living in a large town/city for the vast majority of my life qualifies me as a yokel do you? Whinger, yes.

I have a home thanks, it's just not 'mine'.

The housing committees aren't interested in someone who's educated, has a good job, and doesn't have a herd of kids running around - fact.

Just as important is the cramming of more people into an already densely populated area. They all need services; shops, doctors, etc.

So soul finger your solution is some sort of barricade just north of the downs and a progrom against anyone unable to prove they were born in site of the pier?

I know this board is synonymous with overreactionary comments but that's taking the rise. As for a 'progrom' I have no idea what that means.

Also, I'd be a bit concerned if people were born 'in site' of the pier when there are perfectly good hospitals in the area.

So you're not denying it then?

Denying what? For f***'s sake.

'In site' would refer to the fact that someone was born on a building site and not in 'sight' of the pier, as in 'they can see the pier' hence the hospital reference. I was being facetious.

Besides you can only see the chuffing pier/s from a) Kingsway, b) those massive flats, c) the sea, and d) a helicopter.

Yeah, barricades would be a brillllllliant idea. Jesus christ, I've got work to do.

Tell you what why don't you leave the work for a bit and see if you can find your sense of humour instead.

Christ mate don't take everything so seriously.

Average First time buyer wage London £ 35000 - £ 40000
Average First time buyer wage Brighton £ 19000

London FTB, nice 1-2 bed flat in trendy Hove
Brighton FTB, very cheap studio flat in a crappy area.

Good plan, in fact the best ive heard of since the suggestion (much undervalued in my mind) to build a football stadium on the site of the West Pier.

Go to Washinton roundabout on the A24.You are at the edge of the south downs.Walk 400 yards North and look at the lovely new f***ing great warehouses they have been allowed to plonk probably without any opposition. These things just seem to happen without any opposition.
