I am with BT I reported my internet as slow and they identified a problem and fixed it without telling me the details. I think it had become unsynchronized.

Some years back when ISDN was the way to transmit data, BT would often claim there was no problem yet the problems would vanish after the call to them to report the problem.
This often occurred with lines that we only occasionally used, we suspected they saw lines that were not in use and made use of them
