You know with all the differences of opinion and negativity about Saturdays game, I'm now really glad I was so drunk that I can't actually remember much from about half an hour into the game

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
were turning into a long ball side with crouch in the side is my big worry. It goes forward far to quickly.
Therefore our midfield has absolutely no chance of catching up with play in searing heat.
Its an immposible task for the midfield to get there and give an option of someone to pass to if Crouch and Owen do manage to control a ball that is generally around there ears....

Unfortunately for us, Sven has somewhat painted himself into a corner with his squad, as became evident on Saturday. He takes off Owen, and what options has he got ? His big gamble of taking Theo Walcott along for the adventure understandably doesn't quite go as far as actually PLAYING the fella (he IS just an untried kid after all). So instead, we're now looking at square pegs in round holes, with midfielders being asked to play as auxilliary strikers. And if Crouch picks up another yellow, then he's suspended.

If we're winning against T&T, I think it'd be worth Crouch kicking someone up in the air to get that 2nd yellow card out of the way, so he's suspended against what will (hopefully) be a fairly meaningless game against Sweden. Otherwise, in terms of forwards, we're on a very thin tightrope for the knockout stages.

As long as Crouch does not get another booking in the group stages his one yellow card goes if we get to the knock outs.

Our retreat after a goal mentality does trouble me greatly and whether Sven instils it or not he certainly doesn't stop it happening. The example of Hiddink is a very good one as he is constantly driving his team on by both his substitutions and general touchline behaviour.

I hope not but do fear that this lack of drive will be our undoing again this time. You can debate systems and tactics all you like but from the quarter finals onwards games will be won by teams with special players ( which we have ) who grasp the nettle.

Either that or the ones who take the best penalties....
