The same as that for outfield players, essentially. Handball is only a red card offence if it denies a clear goalscoring oppurtunity.

i find that a rather stupid rule to interpret. does that mean that blayney could, in theory, come sprinting out of his goal and pick the ball up by the corner flag, in order to stop it going out for a corner, and not be punished for it

still got red carded though

his sending off was the main factor in them scoring, coupled with mcghee not having the bollocks to bring dodd on

I'm not defending Hart, by the sounds of things (still haven't seen it on tele) it was a clear sending off...

But our club wins a lot of points through morale and spirit. Blaming a player for defeat, especially an injured one is not going to help this in my opinion.

McGhee asks McCammon and Knight for an apology when they are wrong to complain, and it all seems a bit hypocritical to me???

i appear to be one of these people who have not caught up with the new rule - what exactly is it?
Without quoting it directly, it is something along the lines of a goal keeper only gets sent off for handling outside the area if it stops a direct goal scoring opportunity.

The ref was lenient, nay generous, in saying that the momentum took him out of the area with the ball, cos I don't think that actually happened - I thought he picked it up outside the area. He certainly did not let go of it and pick it up a second time. I would have thought a yellow card would have been correct, but certainly not a red.

No. He'll be punished - with a yellow card, the same way Harty was for his deliberate handball.

[. Does telly confirm that Hart commited a bad foul?

yes it does, tackle from behind, nowhere near the ball - a forward's tackle by a forward playing at right back. Should have jockeyed the opponent forcing him back towards his own goal rather than diving in.

Although I was berating the referee at the time, on TV it looked a good decision
