England's midfield

For many years Wayne Rooney has been both; too good to drop and in the way of his team mates.

Firstly he occupied the space that both Lampard & Gerrard regularly found themselves occupying for their clubs and ultimately the three got in each other's way and none of them proved overly dangerous when played together.

Now he is in a midfield that requires Delle Ali to move out of position and lose effectiveness, plus leaving Kane upfront without anyone supplying him balls as Sterling and Lallana seem more interested in having a go themselves.

I think we've looked dominant in possession but haven't really created many goalscoring opportunities. We shall need to change things and create more to see off tougher opposition

Eventually.

It was putting on the attacking threat which made the Welsh play like they did. They could only have scored on the break. The minute they they sat back Dier was surplus to requirements. Still a lot of work needed on this bunch but the is some promise. Might be a decent side in 2 years if we can find a keeper.
