I think so suits the way we play better.

I go along with that and you have the players to come in as direct replacements if anyone gets injuried.

Would like to see Lennon at some point today.

Owen alone is pointless, needs a fellow striker and as Rooney is in absentia I expect this to be the formation a week today.

4-1-4-1 would be the system to play if we had a natural target man, certainly. In the absence of such a player, 4-4-2 is probably the way to go, but with either Lampard or Gerrard making way for a holding player.

should we not call this game off and just get Owen to do 'shuttle runs' for half an hour?

You could say that, but think it would be good to go for the jugular get a decent score and get everyone feeling confident for the world cup. Also the more players that score, the more comfortable they will be going for goal when the real thing starts. I know it's a compltetly different situation, but last season all we saw were people afraid to have attempts at goal. I say the more the better now, we don't want a professional 2-0 jod we want loads of goals. Or am I being greedy?

But would it be a better work out playing someone like the states?
Should beat them but a hard work out.

Taking your point if Owen misses a bag load of chances will that make him less comfortable?

I'm getting what I wanted :clap2:
Owens hit the onion bag, the crowd are loving it, and we are trying (no option) different things. Ok so not the best team in the world, but they're big players and have put a few challenges about, think it could be a very good warm up game imo
