Well I personally think that's stupid. The Ashes meant something because it had history. To call everything the Ashes would take away the meaning.

I agree that other sports shouldn't use it but I'm not that bothered about the women's cricket, "The Ashes" is always Men but as far as I can recall they always call it the Women's Ashes.

The phrase "The Ashes" came about after Australia came to these shores and first beat us for the first time ever at cricket. It was coined by a newspaper report saying that English cricket was "in ashes".

I don't think this should be banded about LIGHTLY.
