The people moaning about this test being a waste of time presumably switched off and missed Bennett’s century.

Personally think this is good for the game. More tests against the strongest teams (and England, arf) will help Zimbabwe improve and, in time, get somewhere closer to the team they used to be.
Exactly. England can’t spend their entire time playing Australia and India, because test cricket won’t last five minutes if they do that.

Sounds like a good trip! I went to Victoria Falls in 1994 and bizarrely bumped into, and had a picture with, Timothy Spall who was filming there! Also went on the scariest small plane ride of my life over (and ‘into’) the Falls, breathtaking for the bits I had my eyes open at least!

Was just coming on to say something similar. My boys are well chuffed they play for a club that can now boast a test captain as a former player.
They apparently have a signed Zimbabwe Test match shirt from him ready to be displayed in the pavilion I learnt today. They asked and he kindly obliged apparently, so fair play to him.

Feel a bit sorry for Bashir. Nine wickets in the game, and denied the chance to go for a 10fer by the Zimbabwe last man unable to bat (in both innings).

Men against boys. Would a 10fer against Zimbabwe be worth a 5fer against India/Aus ? Would we declare at 565-6 against India/ Aus/ SA ? No, we'd bat on til we were bowled out. Because Zimbabwe had no hope we tried to make a bit of a game of it by declaring early. Pointless match.

Also Pakistan South Africa I am more surprised so many turn up to watch something so uncompetitive. Outside top sides no chance of a small country winning.

I’ll have a look out for that, I’ve just got back from the Polegrove where surprisingly the talk is how the first XI managed to lose that game. Still at least the seconds won in what can only be described as almost arctic conditions.

I didn't know they lost because leaving at around 5pm I rather foolishly assumed 344 was a winning score. For ***** sake.
