Oh Dear, why do we prepare wickets like these?

There's plenty of talk that at the Test venues an old fashioned green tinged English wicket is a thing of the past due to the amazing drainage systems they have to install these days in order to minimise rain delays.

Great news for England's high quality spin attack.

Two wickets since lunch! One each for England's senior pacemen Anderson and Broad, both to good catches by Bell at short mid-wicket and 2nd slip!

107-3

Without a top class spinner and the ball 60-odd overs old the batsmen are bound to take the score up to 250 before even a sniff of the next wicket.

Crazy good catch by Cook at silly point with no helmet... caught a toe ended pull shot by Rahane off Plunkett.

178-4

We need to have more breaks, they seem to bring wickets.

EDIT: Actually it might be me, went for a piss when we got the first wicket, lunch for the second and third, making a cup of tea for the fourth. I might go for a dump now...

These two batsmen look pretty settled now, ton-up Vijay and Dhoni cruising as no danger.

Let's be honest, without Graeme Swann England are not the same team.

Let's be honest, without Graeme Swann England are not the same team.

BBC5Live said as much tonight.
Their team said that even on a wickets unfavourable to Swann, his spells would tie the opposition down to say 2 an over, and he would still take important wickets in those circumstances. Regardless, his spells gave our pacemen much needed rests on wickets suiting batsmen.

Pretty much every top test side of recent decades has either had exceptional pace, exceptional spin or both. We have neither.

4 wickets for 3 runs in 5 overs. "It's just like watching Bra-zil!"

I'd like to think the Indians have given Bhuvneshwar Kumar the nickname 'The Bhuvnor'. As I type he's just spanked Broad for four.

Stat of the day from Sky: This is the first ever England 11 with 9 players who have made a test century. Now there's a cue for England getting skittled out cheaply :lolol:
