our only hope in this match is if the Umpire realises he's CHUCKING

no no no

twat the lot before tea then crack into the ale

I predict 125-5 and a sluggish nervous afternoon hanging on for a draw :nono:

from the flurry of posts from our correspondants can we take the consensus as

1) we're f***ed
2) Murali is a FILTH MERCHANT

I fancy England to pull this off.

The key man could be Collingwood, as he is the only one with the experience and temperament to stay there and graft hour after hour.

It's only the fourth day today.

just realised that . . .my post still applies though !

I think we'll stumble ( Strauss and Tresco as usual ) but win with a Towering Freddie / Pietersen triple century partnership

Sri Lanka a very, very generous 1.7 to win with betfair

(better than 4/6 after costs)

and drifting out 1.84 now

if the openers hang about they could drift out to evens or better

that would be ABSURD value

Why are we in this position? Is it naivety from Captain Fred or just plain underestimation of Sri Lanka?
we didn't bat very well

and then we didn't bowl very well

1.91 now - CRAZY

we're NOT going to bat for 2 days
Murali WILL get a 5 for
our tail is not the most waggy

the run chase would probably represent one of the best 5 in test history

virtually evens on Sri Lanka is buying money

FACT

We need to get the biggest ever 2nd innings total to win at Trent Bridge but nearly two days to do it in.

We should do it but our batting is certainly dodgy in our second innings.

From the Beeb;

England, chasing a Trent Bridge record 325 to beat Sri Lanka and win the third Test, got through the first seven overs of their chase without losing a wicket.

Earlier, Monty Panesar cleaned up the tail as he took 5-78, his first five-wicket haul in a Test match as Sri Lanka converted their 286-7 into 322.

Chaminda Vaas finished unbeaten on 34 to top Sri Lanka's batting averages for the series with an amazing 92.

Kevin Pietersen may have to bat with a runner due to a hamstring tear.

Current partnership 31 runs, 11.0 overs, rr: 2.81 (Trescothick 12, Strauss 16)
