The edges, and one decision (which the Aussies had no interest in reviewing, because it didn't look out)?

Edges from Burn, Root edging, no review on LB, ball hit the stumps and bails didn’t come off.. that’s a fair amount of luck in one and a half sessions.

Root gets to 50 and out again! Here comes the collapse... :lolol:

Root does his usual gets 50 and then fails to go on and make a century and until he does do so consistently can never be compared with the top batsmen in the world.

Not impressed with his limitation and if you compare him to Smith you see the difference.between a reasonably good batsman and a very good batsman.

Yeah, you've mentioned it.

How many of Australia's great batsmen got more runs in this match?

Is getting 50 most innings and getting out really a problem?

Of his 58 scores of 50+, 16 have gone on to 100 or higher. 28% conversion rate is far from terrible.

BG!
Root is not 'reasonably good'. He is the 4th best batsman in the world. Burns is 'reasonably good'.
Next you'll be telling us Archer can 'bowl decent enough'.

Tea, Day Two

England 170-2 (56 overs), trailing by 114

Burns 82* Denly 9* (who just played the shot of the day through the covers)

Another good session for England, without getting away from Australia... 27 overs, 99 runs, 1 wicket

"3 - Joe Root has converted each of his last 3 Test 50s into centuries."

Leave it out, Grandad
