Greatest set piece taker of his generation v someone who can run. Give me the man who can provide GOALS any day. That man is still Sir David:bowdown:

against croatia, we cant afford to have ten players and one who is in simply to take a free kick

everybody bleats on about the same old faces getting chances, and beckham is the ultimate example. playing in a side that is the equivalent of brighton and hove albion that havent won for 12 games

its a brave decision from capello, and one that shows he is looking at the present and future as opposed to picking somebody based on what they did 4 years ago

Walcott? Is he really the best we've got? He just seems to be young and quick, and gets his place in teams on that basis. Not sure I've ever really seen much END PRODUCT from him. Oh well, I hope tonight is a first.

his pace frightens opposition just as effectively as when they see beckham standing over a free kick. the only way most teams can deal with it is either by hacking him down or hoping he makes a mistake - if we are going to be under the back foot tonight, then having him being able to get the ball and run like f*** at croatia is going to be a big assett

his end product is not consistent, but that is probably because he has never had a real run of games to get that consistency he needs. but he can do it:

YouTube - walcotts run !!

and tonight is probably going to similar circumstances

Whilst I agree with a lot of that, I don't think Beckham is the "ultimate example." At least he puts 100% in for England every time he plays.

True, nobody is disputing Beckhams attitude or desire. But sadly, Beckhams 100% is no longer enough. Give him 20 minutes tops if we need something different, but otherwise...naah. Capello's made the right call methinks. Just hope he gives Walcott a bit of a run in the side now.
