Sad news but confirms what many suspected with him being rested a little towards the end of the season, plus comments from the gaffer and Lallana about guys “playing through injuries”. I suspect Lewis was one, and maybe it’s not the worst thing for the club or Lewis’s recovery that he has to miss these games

Very disappointed for him (and for us, not being able to watch him) but has to be the best thing getting rest and rehab so he's fit for pre-season. If he plays to the level he did last season once we start back, you'd have to fancy his chances of getting called up again.

Not a huge surprise. Shame for Lewis but great for us - get him fit for next season

Hopefully it is not one of those "niggling injuries" that keeps him out to Christmas. We had quite a number of players who ended up missing the end of the season with apparently minor injuries (Lallana, Sarmiento were both originally expected back bit didn't make it)
Also interesting to note that KDB effectively stated he's been playing with a bad hamstring for ages.

Such a shame. Herculean effort to play through the majority of those last few weeks for us. Legend.

I’m not sure Sarmiento was ever really expected to be back. He broke a metatarsal towards the end of March and was going to be out between 1.5 and 2 months. That would have meant at best we could have expected him back for maybe the last couple of games if he’d had a perfect recovery.

Can’t remember where I heard, but think it’s a cartilage in his chest.
