Oh well, looks like thats the end of Beattie then, regardless of Erikssons glib remark that "this is my opinion of who is best for this game". There are 3 english strikers in the top 15 goalscoring charts right now. One is inujred (Owen), one is retired (Shearer), and the other is Beattie on 8 goals, which is comfortably more than Rooney, Vassell and Heskey put together. Yet he is left out.

I'm not particularly excited by Beattie either to be honest, he doesn't look like an international to me. But then neither does Heskey, and it hasn't stopped him getting, what, 30 caps ?

Scarey.

Agreed Easy, Id be mighty pissed off if I were Beattie, the 3 strikers in the squad cant hit a barn door between them.

Put your money on 0-0 for sure.

What that squad says to me is pretty decent 1st XI, nothing much on the bench or in the squad. 1-1 looming, unless Rooney's up for it in which case we might win by the odd goal.

Ian Walker? Upson? Murphy? Mills?

Shite.

Waiting for Kirkland to break through into the Liverpool side which shouldnt be too long, he is a tremendous keeper.

Bit harsh on Rooney that. Still, shows how fickle the British public are. I expected the usual negative nonsense about England on this thread, people continually forgetting that England have only lost ONE competitive match under Erriksson and that was against the best team on the planet.

Pleased to see Jenas and Cole included, hopefully at the long term expense of that useless donkey Scholes. Hopefully John Terry will get another chance to prove that he is twice as good as Rio Ferdinand as well.

I'm pleased Scotty Parker has got a chance but surprised by Beattie being left out. They compared him to the other strikers on sky so far in the Prem and he has scored more then all of them put together!! Strange but I'm sure he has got his reasons.
