Sven-Goran Eriksson has delayed the announcement of his England squad to face Turkey for a further 24 hours.

Eriksson was originally scheduled to announce the squad for the Euro 2004 qualifier on Sunday night but was then hit by a major injury doubt surrounding Michael Owen.

The England coach, however, then further delayed his announcement from Monday lunchtime until 1pm on Tuesday.

Football Association spokesman Adrian Bevington told the FA's website: "The England squad for Saturday's Euro 2004 qualifier in Turkey will be announced at 1pm on Tuesday.

"This delay has occurred to allow final arrangements regarding the availability of players to be confirmed."

i too think that he is maybe delaying his squad so he has time to convince shearer to play against the turks.

Owen shouldnt play that looked a well bad injury and he'll do himslef more harm than good playing, however... i believe the real reason he is delaying the squad announcement is to give himself enough time to persuade guy butters to play after his top form of late.

I'd love Shearer to come out of retirement for one last game, by christ we need him! Cant see it happening though.

Gary Lineker to introduce the game, then throw down the mic and run out on the pitch.

I'm quite concerned we could be heading out of Euro 2004.
