Blind loyalty more than anything.
NS Herald said:Blind stupidity some might say - just think what they could have done with the money AND had a good time.
Dave the Gaffer said:people do forget that McLaren was 3rd choice. Big Phil Scolari, Gus Hiddink and then Mclaren...and people wanted an English manager!!!
I wa svery dissapointed with Downing, Ashley Cole and Rooney yesterday. i would even go so far as to say that rooney was a liability ...if he can be wound up by some indian amatuer footballer, then how the hell is he going to cope with Italy or france.....and the same goes for Ashley Cole.
Richie Morris said:Should have got Hiddink as manager and made Gerrard captain.

People that have probably paid out in nearly £1000 in the last 4 days to go to Isreal and then Barcelona and seen two huge piles of shite served up?
You pays your money you has your say.

Admittedly he's royally cocked up our team, acted like a fool in dropping Beckham for non-footballing reasons, made dire substitutions, is struggling to get us to the Euros in a piss poor group and hasn't got a clue where to play Rooney, one of the best players in the Premier league......but he's not really a 'wanker'
Albion Rob said:The obsession with appointing someone before the World Cup really screwed us. Why didn't we just wait until the shakedown afterwards and then nip in and appijnt somoene with a bit of tactical acumen and someone the players would respect.
There are times I'd be delighted if Gerrard, Lampard et al just said enough is enough and retired from international football.
I'd sooner see Joey Barton, Dave Nugent and co out there. They may not play for the top clubs and they might not be as good as others but there's no point being a brilliant player if your performances give rise to suggestions you're not really trying your hardest.

Scholes is in the form of his life and I'd drop Gerrard and Lampard to accomodate him.
