I think O'Riley is coming good and has more potential than Enciso, not sure how he compares to Buonanotte yet.

I am not sure we should be comparing players like O’Riley against the likes of Enciso. We really don’t have much idea of what their potential is, we aren’t involved enough to know their stats and so much goes into how players play under a certain manager.

There are usually too many variables to know who is going to be better than who.

True. But for the sake of football discussion we can certainly compare players.

I think there's the nub. Apart from Rutter, who seems to have come good, the only people standing in the way of Enciso and Buonanotte were players already here, not our trenche of expensive newbies.
Yes but this 'tranche of expensive newbies' play in different positions. The one newbie player that does play in the same position Enciso and Buonanotte is an upgrade.

Either way Enciso and Facu weren't going to get the minutes they wanted were they:shrug:
Because we’ve decided to give those minutes to Gruda who has so far had a goal contribution against the (currently) worst team in premier league history and Championship Norwich City. This club just keeps on bringing in a shiny new toy every window and then ignore the talent that is already here. All well and good bringing in all this young talent, but I’d like to see us getting something out of them before moving them on for Profit. For all good that he’s done, Huerzler has not been good at promoting and getting the most out some of the young players this season.

Nope - we’ve given them to Georgi first and foremost, with better results. If anything it’s only recently that Gruda has started playing at CAM, he was used as a RW for most of the campaign.

In any case if you think Enciso (or Facu - though he seems like he’d handle it more professionally) would be satisfied with Gruda’s minutes you’re mistaken.

I’m more inclined to think we should have given those minutes to Facundo. I think these players would have had more of an impact at RW or LW than Gruda.

They may well have but while we’re speculating on the subject we’d almost certainly have NSCers moaning about Facu being ineffective out of position and arguing we should get rid.

FWIW the decision whether to send someone out on loan is always in part about what the player wants. AFAIK Facu clearly and respectfully communicated to the club in pre season that he wanted regular minutes this campaign and would be open to going out on loan to that end. With Georgi (and O’Riley) coming in, we couldn’t promise Facu regular game time so the alternative to a loan was forcing him to settle for minutes off the bench. I can’t imagine that would have endeared us to his camp. Of course had we known Horseface would come along to ruin his loan we might have picked a different club to send him to.

I think it’s more a frustration that a lot of people have gone down the lazy route of blaming the manager for a lot of things, but I think some of the squad building and handling of transfers/loan could be the root cause of some issues we’re having this season. I think as well the churn of players has been detritmental, it seems to me we’re looking to move on players for fees rather than develop them, a very Chelsea like model.

None...and throw Adingra and Ayari in there as well.
Ayari has been one of the bright lights of the season for me. Is he an upgrade on BG ? IMO yes ; he has more energy , has same passing range and does get into the box more , his weakness is his finishing but to be fair to him he has fluffed some key chances but has also been very unlucky with a couple.

Agreed. None of us know. We just have opinions ........................................... and express them on here. Is that OK?

Between 15/03/2023 and 19/08/2023, Enciso played 16 PL games in a row - 4 goals, 3 assists

Between 29/11/2024 and 15/03/2025, Minteh played 17 PL games in a row - 4 goals, 2 assists

Basically the same record

Fair enough, i meant under Fab. I didn't really want to bring the RDZ factor in as it opens up a different can of worms. If i recall RDZ played JE on the left mainly?

I rate Julio and didn’t really want to see him go on loan. I do respect that he wanted to play more though and so fair play to the lad
