Albion will still be able to sign players on emergency loans next season if the FA get their way.
World governing body FIFA wants to end the system, which allows clubs to sign players outside of the two transfer windows, at the end of this season but the FA are pushing for it to stay in force until the end of next season.
Albion have signed five players on emergency loans this season, as many as any club in the Championship apart from Blackpool and Rotherham.
