Was thinking about how many trophies our recently sold players have picked up now. I make it x7 trophies won between 6 players?
*in the last two seasons.
Mental. Makes you wonder what if. The day we stop selling our best players, is the day we win trophies I think. Which the club should think about.

What with Chelsea having spent so little on their squad in the last three years, you can't help but be enthused by the joy of winning the Conference League. I thought the commentators could have been more complimentary.

How do we stop our players from trebling their wages with a major European Champions League Club ?

Well I underestimated that number as @pigmanovich pointed out. It’s 9 this season alone (WBG, Undav to name a few). Plus chuck in Mac’s Carabao cup too.

It’s great but slightly depressing too. Of course there’s no way we could keep all these players but it does make you think what if? Surely a bit of silverware would have come our way?

Betis with La Liga financial restrictions building the squad. Maybe but don't think so, at least not this season.

Betis with EPL money, no way. They are a well organized club with great fan base and a good experienced manager. I think they would do fine.
I think they'd be at around a Wolves level as they are. Steady squad being carried by a couple of players on a different level. Obviously the financial pull PL clubs have is making traditionally smaller clubs like Albion, Bournemouth, Brentford etc a more attractive opportunity than much bigger clubs from Europe, as well as the 'shop window' element.

Seems nuts teams that do have financial restrictions in an inferior competition get pitted against some mugs that have spent £2bn in the last few years but that's football these days, I guess.

Thank God we didn't need Chelsea to win to qualify for Europe. I'd have felt dirty supporting that lot.
Faustian pact indeed. But one I'd have taken had it meant us qualifying for Europe.

I believe we would have had every chance of making the latter stages of the Conference. Gutted we missed out.

😪
