Have to say I agree, he has definately earned the right to be there, more than some others. In this days of players in the majority being mercenaries, Adams loyalty to the club should be celebrated.

In yesterday's printed Argus Bloom has said that El Abd is a club legend so I will expect some fixed tribute to him at the club in the future, though probably not immediately.

Why do people go overboard? He was a less than good central midfielder in the 3rd tier who Poyet (to his credit) turned into a good enough centre back for the second tier. OK you can be a lower league footballer who becomes a legend under extreme circumstances (Robbie Renault obviously and Powney for number of caps) but really to put him on the legends wall with the likes of Steve Foster, Peter Ward, Mark Lawrenson, Mullery, Charlie Webb (if he is on there) really is stretching it a bit. I put Adam in the same sort of boat as Ian Chapman, did really well and a local lad. Different positions I know but i would also say Chapman was a better player.

Brighton lad played 300 games - over 10 years service to the club I think that should be recognized. Won't happen again very often.

Bit of an end of an era for local players that stay with the club for a long time. Adam was a loyal and brave servant to the club, I wish him to all the best. Sad to see him go but he wanted to play every week and who can blame him.

Not been on here in few days so Ive missed all the talk of his transfer, but its mad we sold at the present moment in time, he's been in great form as of late. Maybe that is why OG sold him, to get the maximum money from him.

Shame he wont be with us IF we get promoted, he's been through it all with us.

I'm a big fan of El Abd but in the overall scheme of things there are a lot of other folk in our history further up the "legends" pecking order, granted many fans younger than me may not have seen or heard of them. I see where you guys are coming from. But I think what adds to the argument of El Adb being put on the legends wall is the timing of our 'rise'. He happens to be not only a local lad, but to of been around and playing whole hearted in a time where we have gone from bad times to promotion and into a new world class stadium with alot of new and young fans, who have been watching him play and also get to know him.

Tend to agree. I certainly don't think he should be put up there now, everyone's frankly a bit emotional about him leaving and some aren't thinking straight. It's understandable but it's wrong. Whilst the whole Legends' Wall / Art installation (whatever it is) needs a total revamp so that it IS either a Legend's Wall or a series of images capturing events in Albion's (recent) history, there should be a 'cooling off' period so that someone's contribution can be assessed a bit more rationally. The NFL Hall Of Fame has a five-year gap and I think that's right. If in five years' time people still think El Abd is a legend - then fair enough, put him up there. At the moment including him ahead of some of the other legends who are missing is ridiculous.
