When the actor who played Stan Ogden died they kept his character in the show for weeks after with him banging on the ceiling from his bedroom upstairs and Hilda shouting up "Alright Stan I'll bring you up a bacon buttie in a minute!" This only being bettered by the show Aufwiedersehn Pet when Gary Holtman died and they used old dialogue of his (that didn't fit the scene at all) dubbed over another actor who kept his back to the camera in an attempt to disguise the fact that it wasn't Holtman.
