I love the Dukes, my elderly neigbours always said it was the real flea pit cinema when they were younger, so its funny how the scruffy runts win the day.

Tim Robbins was on desert island discs recently and it was clearly a plug for his music, I was waiting for him to just select all his own tracks.

'Bob Roberts' was a great film of his and I assume he wrote all the songs he performed, although I am sure he stated he would never perform or release the tracks in case they were taken out of context.

Thanks Greens :(
I remember going to TDoY as a schoolboy with a mate on a Saturday afternoon to see some X-rated soft-core flick in it's more sordid past, and wondering if we were going to get in, until I saw two pupils from my school come out of the earlier performance, and realising they were two years lower than me at school :lolol:

Will you be showing the re-done Rolling Stone's film Ladies & Gentlemen at any point?

DoY is great for watching films in a chav-free environment. A genuine Brighton LEGEND.

Oh, and big cheers to Goodfella for donating a year's DoY Members Pass as a prize at the Peter Ward pool night won by yours truly. The Members Pass that is, not the pool night.

Here's to the next 100 years!

I remember those days well. I think we used to call it the fleapit.I used to
look young for my age and still managed to get in from about age 14 onwards.Occassionally I used to get asked my date of birth,as if it was
beyond the wit of the average schoolboy to be able invent a fictitious one

I almost got put off the Duke of York cinema when a school trip took us to watch 'The Scent of the Green Papaya' - a Vietnamese film, dubbed in Polish with Mandarin subtitles. The longest two hours of my life.

Cracking little cinema.

Ah, okay. Interesting article.

I know a girl who used to work at the kino and who gave a customer a blow-job on the balcony. I am disappointed the recipient's tale is not part of your collection of stories.
