The real reason is because in the old home dug out McGhee had scratched his great tactical ideas into the paint work and until we can sign a decorator, Wilkins decided to make the change as he did not want the players getting confused by this odd ramblings.
First it was the end that the players warmed-up; then it was the way that they kicked during the first half, now Dean Wilkins has gone the whole hog and moved the home dugout to the western end of the pitch!
There must be something specifically comfortable about the home bench however, as it is the whole dugout that has been moved, rather than the perhaps more straightforward job of just unscrewing and swapping the 'home' and 'away' signs!
So why the move? Well apart from just wanting to freshen things up, there was a tactical reason as well, as Dean White explained to me afterwards.
"Both myself and Dean [Wilkins] like to stand at the right hand side of the dug-out during the game, and this way we are close to the centre line as opposed to being half-way down the pitch."
So there you have it, the two Dean's taking preparation to the nth degree! Change is certainly sweeping through the playing side of the football club at the moment, and if the results continue to be afternoons like Saturday, then I for one am in favour!
