Dry Trains on the way to Cardiff

Was this all some sort of joke?

The train I was on - people were lolling up and down the
aisles - shorts, bottles can s the works!!!

I think even the conductor had had a few.

So what are we to believe from the hype?

The trains were kept perfectly dry. We didn't spill a drop.

The 10am there and the train back were certainly not dry, although the Buffet sold out of lager in about 20 mins, then after an hour all that was left was Boddingtons or Guiness.

That you shouldn't plan your trip around some rumours from the drama queens on this site.
Aparently the train ticketing was the same, any old ticketless Tom or Dick could have wandered on to the train at Paddington.

Great Western were just as much to blame for all the hype by making all sorts of barmy statements about people not being allowed onto trains without reserved tickets and the like. The "Bracknell London Posse" who did have reserved seats said there were plenty of spare seats on the 11.00 from Paddington, absolutely no chaos at the station and absolutely no suggestion of thousands of people with unreserved tickets being prevented from catching the train.

It may be that Great Western had an even more cunning plot when fuelling the panic. Because people made other travel arrangements. Although discouraging passengers by issuing messages of doom, gloom and panic is a very peculiar way to run a railway!

FGW basically covered their arses like they always do for Cardiff footy matches. If thousands had turned up then reservations would have been enforced, luckily for us it was fine.

Got on at Fareham 7.45 - definitely NOT dry. Shame I ran out of cider well before Cardiff.

I had to guard your "Zider" from the Brizzle massive for part of the way to Cardiff !

On both the train to London and the 12:00 to Cardiff we gave the conductors a can! There were police patrolling on the Cardiff train - they never said a word.

It was total rubbish. The rumor that is, not the journey. It can join the great list of NSC rhubarb.
