We took the kids to the young seagulls event today at the Amex, and it took nearly half an hour to drive from near the bottom of the hill on the A27 to the exit slip for the ground. Most of the time was spent in lane one at a standstill.

This was because of the sheer amount of ignorant drivers, pushing in at the last minute, (many of whom were probably off to the Amex too) causing the rest of us to have an extended wait

To any of those drivers who may be reading, well thank you very much for the extra hold up you selfish tossers!

Glad I use the P&R on match days as this would annoy the FCUK out of me

In the main, the queue was due to the traffic lights on Village Way, and the fact that hundreds of cars turned up, wanting the Falmer exit all at once, but carry on...

The wise man sees the big queue for the Falmer slip road and drives on towards the nearest roundabout,it is about 3 mins down the road near Lewes town, goes round said roundabout and comes back to an empty slip road on the Brighton bound way.
less than 10 mins round trip that saves enough frustration to make the extra half a litre of fuel used a BARGAIN.
Really cant work out WHY so many will queue for so long and not notice the empty slip road on their right as they cross the A27 flyover.

Abort, retry, fail
Really annoying when a car blocks off the lane to pull in to the sliproad, but there are times when the tailback goes further back than the turn off which leaves a driver little choice. If one was playing by the rules then they should carry on to the next roundabout and do a u-turn.

What does annoy me is either impatient drivers or those that are not paying attention, who pass the queue and then attempt to turn in, blocking another lane.

I am surprised there have not been more serious accidents around there.

Me, I would carry on to the roundabout rather than force my way in.

The wise man doesn't tell everyone about his short cut as his short cut has just got longer!

Alternatively, come off the A27 at ASDA, drive down Coldean Lane, turn left at the bottom, then take the turning for the University and drive through the campus, though you may still have to queue a little to come off at the Falmer village end.

That is fine when there's not a match on, but on match days you'll get caught in longish queues and a traffic management system that has stewards stopping you and asking what you are up to.

No match parking ticket = no pass stewards

Indeed.
I genuinely have NO IDEA why more people don't park and train. Piece of frigging piss.

Well if you're coming from the North there aren't really any Park and Train options, none that work as "efficiently" as P&R

Doesn't it happen every match day too? I sit on the bus looking ahead at what appears an endless stream of cars cutting in. Think the people that let them in are partly responsible too
