Can someone please describe what it's like? Tempted to watch it!

It a decent series showing the lives of the upper and lower classes on the run up to WW1.
How they live, work and deal with dilemmas of the day.
Also, as this was the demise of the upper class, not being able to afford to run the big houses and the rise of the lower class with their equalities and opportunities.
Does go on a bit, but very good.
Maggie Smith, probably the best part of it.

We avoided it for years and then one day decided to give it a try. We downloaded all the series and watched them over a few months.

Agree,Maggie Smith was superb but so were many of the main characters.

Give it a try !

We didn't start watching until the first World War had finished in the series. Thought it was worth watching (but there again I like anything historical).
