Dowie wins monthly award


Crystal Palace boss Iain Dowie has been named as January's Nationwide Manager of the Month for Division One.
The Eagles took 10 points from a possible 12 and, having been relegation-haunted, are now only six points away from a play-off place.

Reflecting on his award, Dowie said: "This is a very big club which was borne out on Saturday when we got more than 20,000 at Selhurst Park.

"It is also a very big job and a club with a lot of potential. Over the few weeks I've been at Palace I have seen a great deal of belief and desire, and this Nationwide award is a real bonus."
