I love this club and will donate whatever I can afford but I would like to know where my donation is going and just how much in debt the club is?.
I feel that us supporters are being hood-winked a bit!!!

I don't feel hood-winked. It should have been obvious from the 2003 accounts that there was a cash crisis and I'm cross I didn't spot it when BensGrandad was questioning the rosy interpretation of the figures.

The figures released today don't really contradict anything previously published £9m+ of debt (£7m to the directors, £2m+ short term).

Assuming that the scrapping of the deal with Ecovert and changes at Withdean are capping the losses, then this should be the only cash call.

Contributions will be used to pay off short term creditors (Falmer advisers, tax man, VAT).

My main worry is whether the money raised is worth the negative publicity. Several small clubs (Bournemouth, Notts County, Bradford) have managed to raise sums of around £200K when the need arises but usually under more significant pressure than this 'crisis'. I can't see us getting close to the £2.5m necessary.

If I was free and single would be happy to donate. As I've already bought three season tickets this season and have a wife and kids to bring up my donation is sadly going to be Zero. I love this club and don't want it to die but things most be getting serious if they keep going cap in hand to the fans for money what most people cannot afford.

I think this is too much at this time,Brighton supporters are the best in the country and have contributed a hell of alot of cash to the club.
Saying that though £22 a ticket at a sh*te stadium I really think they are pushing their luck at the moment.

As noted in another thread (Notes on Club Donations) I would want to see some sort of supporter representation at board level as a consequence of this before committing. It is very worrying that with a 40million pound stadium around the corner we don't have enough cash to get us there. What happens afterwards, where will the construction costs come from? It won't all be grants. Maybe we do have money put aside, but I'd like confirmation of that first.

I've put in some cash, but this would be a fantastic way of recognising the support of the fans. Maybe there should be bi-annual elections for one member of the board coming from the supporters.

Just an addition

Lewes council have decided to take £35000 of taxpayers money to fight Falmer. I pay council tax to them and I have no choice in this.
I do have a choice to send the Albion money which is why I am doing it.

WHY ARE THE COUNCIL SO AGAINST FALMER!!

I keep getting the feeling the people against Falmer are out weighing those for...!!

Is this the beginning of the end?? Sorry for sounding so negative but as each (recent) day goes by things look worse!!
