The Don Balon award is for La Liga's SPANISH Player of the Year
The Don Balon has a number of categories, most prestigious is the Spanish Player of the Year which Vicente won in 2003-4 and other winners include Raul, Xavi, David Villa, Iniesta....). There's also a Best Foreign Player category which Messi has won 3 times to date.
Don't think Vicente is quite in the class of Messi at the moment, but a stellar signing none the less. Check out the clips on YouTube.
