Punta Cana

Anyone been ??
I have heard mixed reports about it, and just wanted some feedback as I'm sacrificing a Skiing holiday for this

Lovely country and place.Don't stay in your resort.Hire a car and you will see how beautifull the country side is.
And enjoy the music Bachata and merengue

I think I would get out and about, as a fortnight in resort would send me stir crazy

Cracking place,was there in april.Locals are friendly and not too pushy if you say no.
Learn a few spanish phrases before you go and they seem so impressed.
Will be full of loud yanks and canadians

Take US Dollars and you get a better rate of exchange from the "Looky Looky Man"than you do at the bank.
Was on an outing and one of the party asked the guide about religion on the island. His reply was 30% were Catholic, 20% something else and 50% were Brugal. Later on i found out that Brugal is the local make of rum!!
Agree about getting out, restaurants and bars are very cheap. Great place.

I've been to Mexico, Cuba and Dom Rep ........and Dom Rep was my favourite holiday. If you're in a decent hotel you can't go wrong. Avoid anything under 4 star or you'll more than likely get food poisoning!

My mum went for her honeymoon and ended up in hospital on a drip. Be careful what you eat.

my nephew is just back from his third holiday there and going again next year so must have something going for it. They go all inclusive and reckon it is great value

Done those 3 too and Dom Rep was way out front for me. My hotel was only a 2 or 3 star but the food (and drink) were great.

I'm jealous now!

Only use bottled water. Even at teeth-brushing time.

if you get a chance (and if they still do it) don't turn your nose up at the 'jeep safari', it's on an eight wheel military wagon and really does go off road!

IMHO not as good as Varadaro, Cuba or Progresso, Mexico but better than Montego Bay.

White water rafting is fantastic but if you go with ya missus you might wanna go with the tour company. We went with a local company - one group ended up with someone with a broken arm and another person with a tooth knocked out. We were lucky and had a great time though!
